365 Days of Columbo: July 6th

Two of the ladies of Columbo were born on July 6th.

Rosemary Forsyth

Columbo widow Rosemary Forsyth was born July 6th, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Though she was only 28 when she played Joanna Ferris in Murder by the Book she'd already had quite a few acting credits to her name.

Later in her career she had a multi-year run on the daytime drama Days of Our Lives.

Janet Leigh

The great Janet Leigh, who played rapidly aging star Grace Wheeler in Forgotten Lady was born on July 6th, 1927 in Merced, California.

Leigh, of course, was best known for having gotten stabbed in the shower by Anthony Perkins in the movie Psycho. But in 1953 she starred in a movie that all Columbo fans have seen at least a few seconds of...Walking my Baby Back Home, which was used in Forgotten Lady.

Fun fact: Leigh was only 48 years old when Forgotten Lady aired - despite convincingly playing a fading senior.

Just One More Thing

In The Greenhouse Jungle, Detective Sergeant Frederic Wilson tells Columbo that he returned to the Homicide department on 6 July.
