365 Days of Columbo: January 3rd

We have three notable Columbo birthdays to celebrate on January 3rd.

Dabney Coleman

Dabney Coleman is one of those actors who appeared in two Columbo episodes, but he's the only one I can think of who was a cop in one episode, and a killer in the other.

He had a small part as a detective in Double Shock.

And, of course, he murdered his girlfriend in Murder of a Rock Star.

Coleman was born January 3rd, 1932 in Austin, Texas and, as of this writing, is still alive and occasionally working. He's got a lot of acting credits and done a lot of high-profile work but to most folks he might be best known as the nasty boss Franklin Hart in 9 to 5.

Ray Milland

Another actor who appeared twice on Columbo is Ray Milland. Milland appeared first as the widower of the victim, Death Lends a Hand, and then as the killer in The Greenhouse Jungle.

Milland is actually Welsh, having been born in Wales, UK in 1907. He was an accomplished equestrian and yachtsman who passed away from cancer in 1986.

Robert Loggia

Born in New York City in 1930, Robert Loggia went on to more than 230 acting credits but no important to Columbo fans than his appearance as the Manager of the Cabaret of Magic, Harry Blandford in season 5's Now You See Him.

Aside from his turn in Columbo, Loggia gave a memorable performance in the Tom Hanks hit Big, as the toy company CEO.

Loggia passed away in 2015 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
