365 Days of Columbo: June 1st

June 1st has a LOT of notable Columbo birthdays, so let's dive right in!

The Legendary Michael Lally!

To start off we have the legendary Michael William Lally. He appeared, often briefly, in (at least) 26 episodes, often uncredited.

Born in June 1st, 1900, in New York he went on to appear in over 460 things - usually as "Bartender" or "Man on street."

Together with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Ronald Reagan, he helped organize the Actors' Guild in Hollywood.

Mike passed away on February 15th, 1985.

John Randolph

John Randolph appeared in just one Columbo episode, but he made it count. As the Air Force colonel in Swan Song, he offered up the key clue that Tommy Brown had been a parachute rigger.

Other that Columbo he had notable performances in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (as Clark's dad), as a regular on the series Grand, and on Serpico. He even appeared on all 5 episodes of Columbo spin-off Richie Brockelman, Private Eye.

He was born June 1st, 1915, in New York and passed away February 24th, 2004.

Anthony Ponzini

Anthony Ponzini had one Columbo appearance, as the Italian neighbor of the victim in Death Hits the Jackpot. That odd ensemble of neighbor folks didn't quite work for me but did give Columbo plenty of folks to interact with - and a chance to speak Italian.

Ponzini was born June 1st, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on December 30th, 2002 at the young age of 69.

Aubrey Morris

Born June 1st, 1926, in Portsmouth, England, Aubrey Morris had a brief role as Fred in Ashes to Ashes.

As from his Columbo appearance he also had 125 other credits to his name, including in A Clockwork Orange, and his final appearance in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

He passed away on July 15th, 2015.
