365 Days of Columbo: June 16th

Happy Birthday Ian Buchanan

Born June 16, 1957 in Hamilton, Scotland as one of five children, he's a British television actor who has appeared on multiple American soap operas. He worked at a local hotel as a bellhop while still a teenager. By the time he turned 14, his parents, both of whom fought alcoholism, died suddenly.

Ian studied acting at New York's Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. His first major daytime role came in 1986, when he joined the cast of General Hospital in the role of Duke Lavery. He is also known for his work in two David Lynch shows – playing Dick Tremayne in Twin Peaks and Lester Guy in On the Air. He has appeared on various soap operas: on the "General Hospital" spin-off Port Charles from 2002-2003, and as a vampire in the 1993 Halloween episode of Quantum Leap.

So...punchable

Of course Columbo fans remember him as the detestable Sean Brantley in Columbo Cries Wolf. Tormenting Columbo with his Playboy lifestyle and smug grin.

Fun Fact

He was the first ever actor on the show The Bold and the Beautiful to receive a Daytime Emmy Award in 1997.
