365 Days of Columbo: July 16th

Happy birthday Dorothy Dells!

Dorothy Dells was born on July 16, 1928, in Medford, Oregon. Her career began when she was discovered while working at a drive-in restaurant on Sunset Blvd. She was immediately signed for the TV series Have Gun - Will Travel (1957).

Columbo fans probably won't remember she had two tiny uncredited roles during the series playing the secretary who brings Jesse Jerome his cash box in season 5's Now You See Him and as one of the TV crew named "Julia" in season 6's Fade in to Murder.

Beyond Columbo

Throughout her career, she appeared in various television series, including Rawhide (1959), My Three Sons (1960), The Richard Boone Show (1963), Hollywood Wives (1985), Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969), Bachelor Father (1957), Highway to Heaven (1984), L.A. Law (1986), and Lou Grant (1977). She also had roles in made-for-television movies and feature films such as Eleanor, First Lady of the World (1982), Death Warrant (1990), Another Woman's Child (1983), and Summer Dreams: The Story of the Beach Boys (1990).

She passed away on April 3, 2020, at the age of 91, in San Luis Obispo, California.
