Remembering William Smith
We lost Columni William Emmett Smith in Los Angeles, California on July 5th, 2021 at the age of 88. Columbo fans will best remember him as Ken Nichols, the musclehead boyfriend of soon-to-be widow Cathy Goodland in The Greenhouse Jungle.
Far from being the dim hunk he appeared in the episode, Smith himself served in Air Force intelligence during the Korean War and he was fluent in 5 languages.
Happy Birthday Louis Herthum
Actor Louis Herthum was born July 5, 1956. His Columbo appearance was a small one: he played a technician in Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous to Your Health, the 1991 ABC-era episode starring George Hamilton as murderous TV personality Wade Anders.
