Happy birthday to Denice Kumagai
Born on July 7, 1956, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kumagai is best recognized for her roles in "Night Court", "Gilmore Girls", and "Suburban Commando".
Except, of course, by Columbo fans who may know her as Fielding Chase's assistant Martha in Butterfly in Shades of Grey.
Beyond Columbo
In addition to her acting career, Denice Kumagai is also a co-founder of Cold Tofu, the first Asian American Improv Comedy Group in the United States. She served as the Artistic Director of the group from 1987 to 1997. Cold Tofu continues to perform to this day.
