365 Days of Columbo: September 25th

Happy birthday to Robert Walden!

Robert Walden (born Robert Wolkowitz on September 25, 1943, in New York City) is an acclaimed American actor known for his versatile roles in television and film. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of journalist Joe Rossi on the TV series Lou Grant, earning three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Walden's career spans several decades, with notable performances in films such as All the President's Men and Capricorn One. He also starred in the groundbreaking sitcom Brothers, which was one of the first American TV shows to feature openly gay characters². More recently, he appeared as Glenn Newman in the TV Land sitcom Happily Divorced.

Columbo fans might recognize him as the character with the most 1970's name ever "Billy Fine" from Season 3's Any Old Port in a Storm.

Somewhat more controversially IMDB credits Walden as a plainclothes detective in An Old Fashioned Murder. I looked at that episode again and I only guess they're referring to this actor, but I'm not convinced that's Robert Walden.

In addition to his acting career, Walden has directed and written for various television productions, showcasing his multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry.

As of this writing he's still alive and still occasionally peforming.
