365 Days of Columbo: October 20th

Happy birthday to Robert Costanzo!

Robert Costanzo, AKA "Oh yeah, that guy!" was born on October 20, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. Costanzo is the son of actor Carmine Costanzo and is of Italian descent. He attended St. Francis Preparatory School and St. Francis College.

You've seen him in a LOT of things, from Die Hard 2 to Friends, but Columbo fans will recognize his face (if not his name) from the first episode of Season 8 (the return of Columbo after a long hiatus) Columbo Goes to the Guillotine.

Costanzo had a brief role as the bartender (and former cop) who reports the blood dripping from Max Dyson's workshop.

Beyond Columbo

Costanzo’s career began with an uncredited role in the 1975 film Dog Day Afternoon. He quickly became known for playing surly New York City types, such as crooks, low-level workers, and policemen, often blending drama and comedy.

He is also well-known for his voice work, particularly as Detective Harvey Bullock in the DC Animated Universe, including Batman: The Animated Series.

Costanzo’s voice acting extends to video games, where he has voiced characters in Batman: Arkham Origins, The Sopranos: Road to Respect, and Mafia II. He also voiced Philoctetes in the Hercules animated series and the Kingdom Hearts video game series.

As of this writing he is still alive, and still working in show biz!

Happy birthday George Wyner!

Born on October 20, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 as a drama major and quickly became an in-demand character actor by the early 1970s.

Columbo fans know him best as the film tech from Double Exposure who explains how subliminal cuts work to Columbo.

Beyond Columbo

Wyner is best known for his roles in television series such as "Hill Street Blues" (1982-1987), where he played the character Detective Leo Tannen, or in the Chevy Chase movie "Fletch" where he played Gillet the divorce attorney.

Some of his notable works include roles in "Kaz" (1978-1979), "Nero Wolfe" (1981), "At Ease" (1983), and "She's the Sheriff" (1987-1989)3
. Wyner's film credits include "Spaceballs" (1987) as Colonel Sandurz and "A Serious Man" (2009) as Rabbi Nachtner.
