I still need to do an episode review of Season 12's It's All in the Game - the one Peter Falk wrote himself and that sees him in a faux romance with murderer Faye Dunaway.
Right from the outset there are a couple of small issues in this episode though.
The magical fountain
Most Columbo fans know about the fountain. The editors clearly ran the film backwards (why, I'm not sure) at one point because Lauren's fountain is clearly running backwards. The water is jumping up and going back into the fountain, rather than the other way.
But I recently noticed a couple of other little glitches in the opening "matrix".
Deja Vu at the Valet
At about 27 seconds a couple gets out of their Mercedes at the valet station. They do it again about 20 seconds later. Clearly the editors just re-used the same clip twice.
Nick was already there
At about 22 seconds there's a crowd scene of Lauren's party and who is making his way through the crowd...
Except he doesn't arrive at the party for another couple of minutes. My guess is that either this was B-Roll that was intended to be used AFTER his arrival but accidentally got inserted before his arrival, or that the original script called for him to already be at the party, and it was a late change to have him arrive with the party already in full swing.
