Ryan MacDonald was an American character actor whose career spanned six decades across film and television. He was born in Philadelphia on September 4th, 1930. 

Columbo fans know him as Charles Whelan, George Hamilton's sailing buddy, in the Season 4 finale, A Deadly State of Mind. A small supporting turn opposite Peter Falk, George Hamilton, and Lesley Ann Warren. 

Beyond Columbo, MacDonald turned up everywhere from The Odd Couple (recurring as Roy) to features like JFK (1991) and Newsies (1992), the kind of steady, versatile work that made him a familiar face to TV and movie viewers of the 1960s–90s.
