Actress Suzanne Pleshette was born January 31, 1937. Columbo
fans will know her as Helen Stewart in Dead Weight (1971) — the military murder mystery co-starring Eddie Albert as General Hollister.
Outside of Columbo, Pleshette’s resume is stacked: film
roles like Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” and, of course, TV immortality as Emily
Hartley on “The Bob Newhart Show.”
Pleshette passed away in 2008 at age 70.

Jessica Walter was born January 31, 1941. She turns up in
Columbo’s world in Mind Over Mayhem as Dr. Margaret Nicholson, widow of the victim.
Walter’s career spans everything from the thriller “Play
Misty for Me” to later-era TV royalty: Lucille Bluth on “Arrested Development”
and the voice of Malory Archer on “Archer.”
She died in 2021 at age 80.
Paul Carr
Character actor Paul Carr was born January 31, 1934. He appears in the pilot episode Ransom for a Dead Man
(1971) as Hammond.

Carr had a long television career, popping up all over the
place. Fans may also remember him from early “Star Trek” (as Lt. Lee Kelso in
the second pilot episode, later aired as “Where No Man Has Gone Before”).
Carr passed away in 2006 at age 72.
