Happy Birthday Peter Jurasik
Actor Peter Jurasik was born April 25, 1950, in New York City. Columbo fans know him as Dr. Simon Ward in the 1989 comeback-era episode Sex and the Married Detective.
Jurasik’s role is a memorable supporting turn in one of the more “only in late-80s Columbo” outings, where the Lieutenant finds himself poking around the world of sex therapy, psychological games, and a killer who badly underestimates his old-fashioned methods.
Outside of Columbo, of course, Jurasik is best known to science-fiction fans as Londo Mollari on Babylon 5, one of the great larger-than-life TV characters of the 1990s. He also appeared on Hill Street Blues, Tron, MAS*H, and plenty more.
Remembering Albert Paulsen
Actor Albert Paulsen died April 25, 2004. Columbo fans remember him from The Conspirators, the final episode of the original NBC run, where he played Vincent Pauley, the arms dealer who makes the fatal mistake of doing business with poet, gun-runner, and murderer Joe Devlin.
Paulsen had one of those faces — and voices — that seemed built for 1960s and 1970s television intrigue. He was a regular presence on shows like Mission: Impossible, Combat!, Hawaii Five-O, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Odd Couple.
Remembering Marla Adams
Actress Marla Adams died April 25, 2024, at the age of 85. She appeared in the 1994 Columbo movie Undercover as Sheila Byrnes, the building manager who calls the police at the beginning of the episode when Dillinger and Ehrbach kill each other.
Adams was best known to daytime viewers as Dina Abbott Mergeron on The Young and the Restless, a role that eventually earned her a Daytime Emmy.
