365 Days of Columbo: June 6th

Happy Birthday Ed Fury

Actor and bodybuilder Ed Fury was born June 6, 1928, in Long Island, New York. Before turning up in Columbo, Fury was best known as a Muscle Beach figure and a star of the “sword-and-sandal” movies of the 1950s and ’60s.

Columbo fans may recognize him from two small roles: Charlie in Lovely But Lethal and as the detective who didn't notice the shoe polish on the door in Mind Over Mayhem.

Remembering Dana Elcar

June 6th also marks the passing of Dana Elcar, who died in 2005 at age 77.

To Columbo fans, Elcar is Falcon, one of Adrian Carsini’s wine-circle acquaintances in Any Old Port in a Storm

A June 6th Clue in Requiem for a Falling Star

And here’s a fun in-universe June 6th connection: in Requiem for a Falling Star, Columbo’s notes refer to a meeting in Jerry Parks’s study on Tuesday, June 6. It’s one of those tiny date references that is easy to miss, but it matters because Columbo is using that meeting to work backward toward Nora Chandler’s motive.
