Actor Jay Acovone was born August 20, 1955, in New York City. Columbo fans will remember him as Bruno Romano, the mobster Graham McVeigh murders in 1995's Strange Bedfellows.
Acovone has amassed more than 100 film and television credits over his career, including recurring work on Beauty and the Beast and appearances in Murder, She Wrote, Friends and Stargate SG-1.
Remembering Ted Post
Director Ted Post died in Santa Monica, CA on August 20, 2013, at the age of 95.
Post's lone contribution to Columbo was directing the 1975 episode A Case of Immunity, starring Hector Elizondo as murderous Suarian diplomat Hassan Salah.
His résumé stretched far beyond the Lieutenant. Post directed extensively for television, including Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke and Rawhide, and later directed Clint Eastwood in the feature films Hang 'Em High and Magnum Force.
A Birthday Mystery for Norma Connolly
IMDb lists August 20, 1927, as the birthday of actress Norma Connolly, who played Celia in 1971's Ransom for a Dead Man. Celia is Leslie Williams' client, the one she advises to cry when the opposing counsel asks how fast she was driving.
Connolly went on to become particularly well known as Ruby Anderson on General Hospital, a role she played for many years before her death in 1998.
