Happy birthday Richard Anderson!
First up is Richard Anderson, born August 8, 1926. Anderson will be instantly recognizable to fans as Bryce Chadwick, the domineering older brother whose determination to control sister Beth’s life proves decidedly unhealthy for him in 1971’s Lady in Waiting.Bryce may not survive much of the episode, but Anderson makes excellent use of his limited screen time. His clipped, authoritative performance establishes immediately why Beth feels so suffocated by her brother. Anderson, of course, became far better known during the decade as Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.
He died in 2017 at the age of 91.
It’s a comparatively small role, but a memorable one. Marcia’s breezy personality provides some welcome comic relief in one of the series’ more sinister episodes, dominated by Leonard Nimoy’s chilling Dr. Barry Mayfield.
There was a family connection behind the scenes, too: Jefferson was the son of Roland Kibbee, who served as an executive producer on Columbo during this period and Lucille Meredith who had two notable appearances on Columbo herself.
She wasn't Suarian, of course, because it's a fictionial country. She was actually born in Athens, Greece.
Happy birthday to Nita Talbot!
August 8 is also the birthday of Nita Talbot, born in New York City in 1930. She appeared in 1973’s A Stitch in Crime as Marcia Dalton, the outgoing roommate of murdered nurse Sharon Martin.

As of this writing she's still alive, though her last acting credit was in 1997.
Happy birthday to Jefferson Kibbee!
A third August 8 birthday belongs to Jefferson Kibbee, born in Los Angeles in 1951. Kibbee made two Columbo appearances during Season 3, first as Jeff in Mind Over Mayhem and then as Frank in Swan Song.

Farewell to Brioni Farrell
August 8 also carries a sad anniversary. Brioni Farrell, who appeared under her birth name Xenia Gratsos in 1975’s A Case of Immunity, died on August 8, 2018, aged 78. Farrell played Xenia, the legation secretary and friend to the first victim, Alaffa.She wasn't Suarian, of course, because it's a fictionial country. She was actually born in Athens, Greece.
Farrell had a long television career beyond Columbo, including appearances on Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, The Bionic Woman and La Femme Nikita. Her husband later confirmed that she died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
