Happy Birthday, Stephen Caffrey
Born on September 27, 1959, Stephen Caffrey played Justin Rowe in Columbo Goes to College. Justin and his fellow student Cooper Redman make a dangerous mistake: they assume the rumpled detective investigating their professor’s murder is someone they can outsmart.
There’s an extra treat for longtime fans in the cast. Robert Culp, who had faced Columbo as a killer in the original run, returns as Justin’s father, Jordan Rowe.
Happy Birthday, Tony Giorgio
September 27 is also the birthday of Tony Giorgio, born in 1923. He played Harry, on of the gun dealers, in The Conspirators, the 1978 episode that closed Columbo’s original NBC run. Film fans may recognize him as Bruno Tattaglia in The Godfather.
Remembering Rob Garrison
Actor Rob Garrison died on September 27, 2019. Best known as Tommy in The Karate Kid, he also appeared as the young assistant who gives the facility tour in Columbo Goes to the Guillotine, the episode that launched the show’s ABC revival in 1989.
