Happy birthday Regis Cordic

Regis John Cordic, also known as Rege Cordic, was born on May 15, 1926, in Hazelwood, Pennsylvania. His career in entertainment was divided roughly in half. From 1948 to 1965, he was the dominant morning drive-time radio host in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

From the late 1950s to the mid-1980s, he transitioned into a successful voice, television, and film actor. He was known for his roles in "The Transformers: The Movie" (1986), "The Transformers" (1984), and "Kung Fu" (1972).

In Columbo, Cordic made notable appearances. He appeared as one of the Carsini's wine buddies in the season 3 episode Any Old Port in a Storm.

Then in the very next episode he played the role of Deputy Commissioner in Candidate for Crime which aired on November 4, 1973.

Regis Cordic passed away on April 16, 1999, in Los Angeles, California.

The Cat Gets Out of the Bag

On May 15th, 1997 A Trace of Murder premiered. Starring the terrific Barry Corbin as a brash investor who gets framed by his wife (played by real-life Mrs. Falk, Shera Danese) for the murder of a rival.

Mrs. Calvert's plan is undone by some photos that prove she and her forensic investigator boyfriend planted key evidence.

Happy Birthday Lainie Kazan!

Lainie Kazan, born as Lainie Levine on May 15, 1940, is an accomplished American actress and singer. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Brooklyn's Erasmus Hall High School with Barbra Streisand, for whom she would later understudy. She graduated from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York in 1960.

Kazan made her Broadway debut in 1961 with the musical "The Happiest Girl in the World" and appeared the following year in another musical, "Bravo Giovanni". She served as Barbra Streisand's understudy for the lead role of Fanny Brice in "Funny Girl" (1964), and when Streisand was unable to perform due to a throat condition, Kazan took her place in both a matinee and evening performance for one day of the show's run.

She has been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for "St. Elsewhere" and the 1993 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for "My Favorite Year". She is also known for her role as Maria Portokalos in the "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" franchise.

Columbo fans know her best as Valerie Kirk, the aging performer Kay Freestone lined up to star in her own live show in Make Me a Perfect Murder. Valerie let Kay down, but we can wish Lainie a happy birthday anyhow.
