Bob Dishy

Bob Dishy, born on January 12, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, is a versatile American actor known for his work on stage, film, and television. Dishy discovered his passion for acting in high school and went on to major in drama at Syracuse University. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a comedian in the Catskills "Borscht Belt" circuit before making his Broadway debut in 1956 as a replacement in the hit musical "Damn Yankees!".

A long-time friend of Peter Falk, Dishy made two appearances on Columbo as the same character...with slightly different names.

The Greenhouse Jungle

Dishy debuted as eager young detective Frederic Wilson in The Greenhouse Jungle. Falk and Dishy teamed up to catch murderous and cranky uncle Jarvis.

Eager to learn from Columbo, and bristling with more tech than instincts, Dishy brought a fresh and entertaining presence to the episode.

Now You See Him

It was 3 seasons later before he returned, which might explain why the writers forgot what his name was. In Now You See Him Dishy was back as slightly more seasoned detective John J. Wilson.

Excited to work with Columbo again, and show him what he'd learned since their last partnership, Sergeant Wilson again brings a fresh energy and a likeable presence to the episode.

Unfortunately, that was the last appearance of Sergeant Wilson.

Beyond Columbo

In addition to "Columbo," Dishy appeared in other television series such as "The Golden Girls," "Frasier," and "Law & Order". His film credits include roles in "Along Came Polly" (2004), "Don Juan DeMarco" (1994), and "Brighton Beach Memoirs" (1986).

He has been married to Judy Graubart since 1986. They have two children.

As of this writing he seems to still be alive, though he doesn't have any acting credits since 2014.
