Jeanette Nolan

Jeanette Nolan never played a murderer or a victim on Columbo, and her two appearances almost couldn't be more different, but they were both extremely memorable.

Nolan was born on December 30th, 1911 in Los Angeles and had an active career right up to her passing in 1998.

Double Shock

Columbo fans were first introduced to her in season 2's Double Shock where she played one of the only characters Columbo ever really feared: Mrs. Peck.

Columbo's efforts to solve the case are beset by frequent confrontations with Mrs Peck, invariably resolved with temporary cease fires, until the very end.

The Conspirators

Nolan was back in season 7's wrap-up The Conspirators and it's a tribute to her talent that Columbo fans are often stunned to discover that she also played...

...Kate O'Connell, the quietly cunning matriarch of O'Connell Industries.

Beyond Columbo

Nolan had a very busy career, mostly in television, with more than 200 credits to her name (though some sources say she made more than 300 appearances). She appeared in everything from Gunsmoke, to The Love Boat, to TJ Hooker. Almost any show from the early 70s to the late 80s got an appearance by Ms. Nolan.

Along the way she was nominated for 4 Primetime Emmy awards.

In her personal life she was married to John McIntire for 56 years, until his death in 1991 and had two children.

She passed away on June 5th, 1998, in Los Angeles, after a stroke.
