February 21st features two very notable Columni birthdays, one passing, and two premieres!
Rue McClanahan
First off a very happy birthday to Rue McClanahan! She had a long and illustrious career including runs on Maude and The Golden Girls. But, of course, to Columbo fans she'll always be Verity Chandler...the showy gossip columnist who makes the mistake of telling Undertaker of the Year Eric Prince that she plans to expose him as a thief in Ashes to Ashes.
It's never a wise idea to blackmail the murderer, especially alone on their turf.
She was born February 21st, 1934, in Healdton, Oklahoma and unfortunately passed away June 3rd, 2010.
Tyne Daly
Saucy Tyne Daly did two turns on Columbo. First off as murderous Dolores McCain in A Bird in the Hand.
And then, 18 months later, as retired prostitute Dorothea McNally (same initials are probably a coincidence) in Columbo: Undercover.
Daly has also had a long career outside of Columbo, especially as cop Mary Beth Lacey in Cagney & Lacey.
She was born February 21st, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Farewell to Robert Gibbons
On February 21st, 1977 Robert Gibbons stepped out for his permanent "lunch break". Columbo fans know him as the clerk from Blueprint for Murder and might also recognize his second appearance as Rogers, the lab guy, in Now You See Him.
The Eddie Albert episode, Dead Weight, premiered in Hungary on February 21st, 1976.
Bonjourno Make Me a Perfect Murder
Kay Freestone counted down in Italian on February 21st, 1982 as Make Me a Perfect Murder premiered in Italy.
